Dear Students,

I wanted to touch base with you on the student American Advertising Awards.

This year, the AAF-RGV local ADDY club has increased the entry fee by $1, making it $29 for either a single entry or a campaign. This adjustment allows the club to advance gold student award-winning entries to the District 10 regional competition after the local contest.

Please ensure strict adherence to all online submission guidelines within the entry system to guarantee the proper representation of your work throughout all three tiers of the American Advertising Awards competition.

For magazines or multiple-page publications like book design or brochure design, kindly submit a link created via heyzine.com. This elegant platform allows judges to view the magazine in context through the internet.

In the case of UI/UX designs, keep in mind the virtual judging aspect. Provide a video of the pages along with a .pdf to help judges better appreciate the design in action.

The American Advertising Awards, the home of the ADDY® Award, stands as one of the industry’s largest creative competitions, attracting nearly 30,000 professional and student entries annually. The mission is to recognize and reward the creative spirit of excellence in advertising.

Conducted annually by the American Advertising Federation (AAF), the local Ad Club phase serves as the first step in a three-tier, national competition. Local ADDY winners then compete at the district level, and district winners proceed to the national stage of the American Advertising Awards.

In order to foster an unbiased judging process, we recommend making a few adjustments to your online profile:

Profile Image: Temporarily change your profile image to something other than your real portrait. You can revert to your original portrait after June 30, 2024.

Account Name: Alter your Behance account name to a nickname that doesn’t disclose your real name. You can switch it back to your actual name after June 30, 2024.

Project Title: Refrain from using real personal names in project titles. This precaution prevents the inclusion of real names in the URL, avoiding the risk of rendering the entry void.

By adhering to these guidelines, you play a vital role in maintaining a level playing field throughout the judging process. These recommendations from the American Advertising Federation (AAF) are designed to prevent jurors from identifying entrants based on real names and profile images, thereby minimizing potential biases.

Remember, you have the flexibility to revert your account name and profile image back to their original settings after June 15, 2024. If you opt to change your account name post-submission, be assured that this adjustment will not impact the submitted link for judging.
