Accessing the System and Other Information. All submission information can be found at: http://portfolio.truman.edu. From there, students can click on the link that says “Click here to log on to your Truman Portfolio and Vault” at the top of the page to access the system, or they can click on the other links along the left side of the Main Page to look at the prompts and other helpful instructions.
Required Items. The first time a student logs in, they open their Welcome page where they are asked some general information. Once they submit that form, they go directly to their own Portfolio Summary page that shows the full list of prompts. The list includes six prompts that are required for all students: Critical Thinking and Writing, Interdisciplinary Thinking, Civic Engagement, Most Personally Satisfying, the Transformative Experiences Questionnaire, and their Letter to Truman.
The Vault. All student files are kept in their own “Vault,” and students can start putting files there as soon as they arrive on campus. They just click on the vault image above the Required Submissions Table on their own Portfolio Summary Page. This link takes them to the page where they can upload files.
Civic Engagement. The new prompt, Civic Engagement, is now live. It asks students to describe and reflect upon their most meaningful or significant civic engagement experience they had while in college. The Rubric associated with this prompt is still being developed, and that should be live by the end of this month. Presently it is listed as “Coming Soon!” on the Current Prompts page.
Experience and Course-Embedded Prompts, and Major-Specific Submissions. These two sections include many items that are not required for all students. Students actually enrolled in those classes (predominantly) should complete the “course-embedded” prompts. Being seniors, students are unlikely to be enrolled in WACT, for example, so you can just skip that one. The Capstone and Resume/CV submissions are there for use by your program as you prefer; they are basically slots where students can file these documents for their convenient reference and review.
The JINS Prompt. As part of the LSP JINS review, we still are asking all graduating students to submit their JINS paper for the non-required JINS-embedded prompt, regardless of whether they use it for their required interdisciplinary prompt. It is not a graduation requirement, but will help with the rotating LSP review of that course. You are encouraged to submit a paper into this “course-embedded” slot if you haven’t already.
Misc. Other Issues. If a student started their portfolio several years ago, they may have used the old system. If they started in the old system (any address starting with “assessment.truman.edu”), but didn’t finish, they can contact us to help move their files and reflections to the new system. We sometimes have problems with students who have changed their name or were gone for a while, so please contact the portfolio office as soon as you can so that they can help you.
Contact Portfolio Office! If you have any questions, please contact the portfolio office. You can email the office staff at portfolio@truman.edu.
