WHAT IS AIGA?

American Institute of Graphic Arts is a professional association for graphic designers to stimulate thinking about the current state of the design industry, demonstrate the value of their work as well as empowering the success of designers at each stage of their career.

AIGA is an organization that advances design as a professional craft, strategic advantage and vital cultural force by connecting practitioners, enthusiasts and patrons through regional, national and global events and by creating and curating content that:

 

• Advocates for a greater understanding of the value of designers and design

• Enhances professional development
• Defines global standards and ethical practices

• Inspires designers and the public

• Establishes criteria for design education that meets the needs of the professiont

• Makes powerful tools and resources available and accessible

AIGA is the oldest and largest professional membership organization for design, and is a nonprofit, educational institution.

As the largest professional association of designers in the world, AIGA is committed to advancing the value and impact of design, both locally and globally, and working together to inspire, support and learn from each other, at every stage of our careers.

 

As a member of Truman State University's AIGA chapter, you will  experience design from a professional end. There are many events and opportunities that allow you to discover yourself as a designer in the world beyond college. You'll have the chance to go on trips to various design firms, network, and create bonds between you and your fellow collegiate designers.

 

MEMBERSHIP

Truman State University's chapter is one of 69 in the country, holding over 25,000 members. Membership comes in two degrees:

 

• National Membership - Dues $90/year

 

• Local Membership - Dues $45/year
