A-420 Final Project: Portfolio Site – SP’12

Posted by: Ping

Project Objective: Redesign your personal HTML site to an online portfolio site.

A portfolio site is all about promoting yourself. You are a brand, and your name is a brand name. No one is going to know about your brand unless you get it out there; and if you are a graphic designer, it’s essential that you have a good portfolio website.

Project Period: 4/5 ~ 4/26 (3 weeks)
Project
Process:
1. Search on professional portfolio sites, which inspires you;
2. Collect your high quality works, and prepare those images for your online portfolio;
3. Design a logo for your portfolio website and an optional tagline in your header div;
4. Design the page layouts with multiple columns and typographic hierarchies;
5. Build an impressive menu system and a shared CSS (linked) for the entire web site;
6. Apply one of the Javascript slideshows to your online portfolio;
7. Address an easy-going contact information (could be a fake contact info for the project);
8. Validate the CSS(s) and all HTML5 pages by W3C Validator;
9. Add a site blog (optional)
10. Upload the finished website to your web space for the final presentation
