Day 13 7/23: Hever Castle & Garden
Hever Castle & Gardens, situated in Kent, England, is a historic 13th-century castle renowned for its picturesque gardens and rich history. Originally a country house, it became the childhood home of Anne Boleyn, the second wife of King Henry VIII and mother of Queen Elizabeth I. The castle showcases stunning interiors with Tudor-era artifacts and vibrant gardens, including the Italian Garden and the Rose Garden. Surrounded by a moat and offering activities like boating and maze exploration, Hever Castle provides a captivating blend of history, architecture, and natural beauty.

Meet in Lobby at 8:30 am
- Faculty will travel with students to Heaver Railway Station (9:45 train tickets are purchased).
- Take 1 mile walk across countryside to Hever Castle. Tickets are booked ahead of time.
- Caroline Miles will provide a brief presentation on the history of Hever Castle and how it relates more broadly to England’s history and culture.
- Faculty and students will travel back to London (4pm train)
- Starting Point: Russell Square, London.
- Walk to St Pancras International Station:
- Distance: About 0.5 miles.
- Estimated Time: 10 minutes.
- Directions:
- Head southeast on Russell Square toward Montague Pl.
- Turn left onto Woburn Pl.
- Continue onto Upper Woburn Pl.
- Turn right onto Euston Rd.
- St Pancras International Station will be on your right.
