The 2024 UDA Poster Competition garnered substantial global engagement, attracting entries from graphic designers and students worldwide. The competition’s categories spanned Commercial Posters tailored for clients, Experimental Posters fostering design exploration, and Environmental Awareness Posters advocating for a sustainable planet. An esteemed panel of Honorary Jurors assessed the submissions, lending their professional insights. The outcome was the identification of remarkable entries hailing from diverse countries and regions, including the United States, China, Germany, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Cyprus, and Taiwan. On June 25, 2024, UDA unveiled the winners of the 2024 International Poster Competition, a testament to the exceptional talent within our profession. I’m delighted to share that UTRGV faculty won a silver award, and UTRGV students secured one Gold award, one Silver award, and three Bronze awards in this competition. Work Description:
Since its 2009 inception, Cross Connections International has blossomed into a vibrant global design festival, reaching its pinnacle with the upcoming Cross Connections 2024, the fourth edition. Collaboratively organized by UTRGV, IMAS, and the BMFA, this dynamic event includes an international design competition, a juried exhibition, and design thinking webinars. With active participation from numerous global higher education institutions, the CC-2024 exhibition promises a melting pot of creative expression, featuring 174 diverse design works from 525 submissions. The theme, “Unleash Your Creativity: Explore Your Designs Beyond Borders, Cultures, Concepts, Media, and Disciplines,” encapsulates a fusion of contemporary visual communication designs and emerging trends. The call for entries poster campaign, available in multiple languages, cleverly incorporates the double “C” symbol mark of Cross Connections event. “CROSS CONNECTIONS 2024” and descriptors elegantly curve into the outer letter “C,” while “CALL FOR ENTRIES” artfully conforms to the inner letter “C”. This attention not only symbolizes the event’s essence but also highlights its global reach and inclusive spirit, making Cross Connections 2024 a transcendent celebration of creativity and design innovation. As the event curator, I designed the Call for Entries poster series.
