Important notice regarding the study abroad application

Posted by: Ping

In order to encourage students to complete their study abroad applications as soon as possible, Study Abroad Office is not requiring the essay anymore. If you have already applied with the essay, you can use your essay for the EA scholarship application. You can ignore the essay request and still submit.

Regarding the application fee, you are not required to pay it to complete the application. This fee will appear in their account once you commit to the program. Also, if you don’t have a current passport, you just need to upload evidence that you have applied for one.

Also, see flyer attached. In addition to office hours, all our UTRGV Study Abroad team will be available between now and March 7th to help students with the Gilman application and essays via email or zoom. Please download the flyer and contact the study abroad office: claudia.zapata@utrgv.edu.

I will call for a meeting sometime next week regarding the application process and the scholarship application. I will also create a WhatsApp group so that we can communicate more efficiently.

Finally, the final Gilman Scholarship office hours to assist you with application process and/or any  questions you might have is this Friday March 1st at ESTAC Room 2.130 from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM. If you would like to speak with one of our Study Abroad specialists for more questions. You are also encouraged to set up an appointment: https://outlook.office365.com/book/InternationalProgramsPartnerships1@utrgv.onmicrosoft.com/?login_hint.

For those who are in Brownsville and/or not able to attend in person, please feel free to join via Zoom: https://utrgv.zoom.us/j/86022441858

Let me know if you have other questions or concerns,
