Hello classes,
By checking students’ working process for the UI kit design, I found a situation in the ARTS-4338 class. Eight students in the ARTS-4338 class are working on the UI kit individually and seven groups with 14 students are working the app design as a group project in the class. I found that one student worked very hard for the UI kit assignment, but the other student did nothing for the assignment. It is unfair so I decided to make a change to those students who worked the app design as a group project.
If you are a student for a group project no matter you’re a regular track student or an Adobe track student and no matter you’re a student from ARTS-4333, ARTS-4334, or ARTS-4338 class, you MUST design a UI kit for our next Wednesday’s final confirmation for the UI kit design. Each group could designate one student to present two UI kit layouts side by side, then I will select the better design between two layouts in the Nov. 17’s class.

Amazon Contest Group List:

Example-1:
Candace Rodriguez & Karen Tamez:
You can work together for the final project on the Amazon topic, but each of you should design a UI kit layout individually, then let’s finally confirm the best design between two layouts on next Wednesday.
However, if you’re a student who participated both NYT contest and Amazon contest, and you continue one of the Adobe projects via a group project with your partner, you can decide to continue either NYT project or Amazon project as your final project, but you should not design the UI kit for the same contest’s topic.
Example-2:
Diana Huerta-Jimenez & Brenda Alaniz:
The best way to complete your final project is one person covers each project (either NYT project or Amazon project), but you can still work together for the final project on one topic except the UI kit assignment. Diana should work on NYT’s UI kit and Brenda should work on the Amazon’s UI kit or vice versa. It’s a better way to create projects effectively.
Example-3:
Eva Robles & Cazzendra Rojas:
The best way to complete your final project is one person covers each project (either NYT project or Amazon project) although your team finally dropped the Amazon contest, but you can still work together for the final project on one topic except the UI kit assignment. Eva should work on NYT’s UI kit and Cazzendra should work on the Amazon’s UI kit or vice versa. It’s a better way to create projects effectively.
It may bring you another question about the UI kit poster printing.
- If a student team participated both contests, I would highly suggest you print hardcopy for both UI kit layouts if it doesn’t spend your money. Otherwise, I will choose the better-quality layout and ask you to print.
- If a student team participated only one contest or a student team works on a regular track app project, the group only need to print the confirmed layout for the hardcopy submission.
I would like to speed up the UI kit layout working process as the Graphic Design program’s student competition committee will have a faculty meeting on Nov. 19 to confirm how many student works could be selected via university sponsored entries to join both ADDY Award competition and DSVC’s 18th NSSC National Show.
The main task of the classes in the next week is checking and completing the UI kit layout especially on Nov. 17 Wednesday. If you have any question about the UI kit design, the prebuilt component of user interface layout, please let me know.
Once again, I would like to congratulate Ariana and Danna for their wonderful job and achievement for the Amazon competition. Danna did a great presentation on the yesterday’s finale. Pretty awesome! You have won honor not only for UTRGV, but also for the United States. Thank you!!
