You may:
A. Performing a basic trace
B. Using a build-in tracing presets
C. Exploring advanced tracing options
D. Covering pixel to paths

1. Scan the sketch or image
2. Open the image or place the image in Adobe Illustrator
3. Select the image, then click Image Trace button
4. Click the Expand button
5. Perform Live Paint
6. Use Live Paint Bucket tool to recolor the object

Live Trace is faster and more accurate in Abobe Illustrator CS6.
It has a better color recognition.
