Information about Gilman Scholarship Application
- IPP received 138 Gilman scholarship student applications, but only 49 were completed by the students and certified.
- IPP will arrange a second Gilman scholarship with the deadline on March 9, 2023, at 11:59 pacific time. IPP will send emails to all UTRGV students to remind them about this great opportunity.
- Also, IPP will offer two writing workshops on January 31 and February 9, 2023, for students needing help with the Gilman application essay. Hours and locations will be announced soon!
- IPP is in the process of hiring two International Program Specialists, so they will have two new members on their team very soon!
- IPP purchased an innovative traveler relationship and travel risk management system called VIA TRM https://www.viatrm.com/. We will be using this platform for our next year’s programs in 2023-24. This will be an innovative and friendly user experience for our UTRGV students!

1. ARTS-4388: Special Topics – Digital Cultural Narratives

It will be a upper level art elective course open to all UTRGV students through an eighteen-day Study Abroad minimester trip to Europe (UK & France) in Summer 2023.
The Project Setting of ARTS-4388 in Summer
- Assignment-A: Photo Shooting for Image Retouching and Brochure Design
- Assignment-B: Vlog Shooting for Video Editing and Story-telling Video
Between the Assignment-A and the Assignment-B, students need to complete only one assignment for the course through the trip and prepare it to generate the course project (brochure or video) which they select. - Project-A: Travel Journal Brochure (Photoshop & InDesign)
- Project-B: Travel Journal / Story-Telling Video (Premiere & Optional After Effects)
Between the Project-A and the Project-B, students need to complete only one project for the course through the trip

If you would like to join our Study Abroad Europe trip through taking the ARTS-4388 Digital Cultural Narratives, but you have already taken all of your upper-level art electives, you may choose the following alternative course.

Arranged for graduate students of any major with a 6000 level research course on digital design without prerequisites.
2. ARTS-4338 Interactive Design / Ping Xu | CRN: TBA
• The course project in this interactive design session will be focused on a user-experience design with a non-coding practice.
• The course is only open to design majors, design minors, and art majors with a prerequisite of ARTS-4334
>This ARTS-4334 prerequisite is only required for joining the ARTS-4338 being a study abroad course in each summer

- Group Project-A: Travel App (XD or Figma)
- Group Project-B: Travel Website (XD/Anima or Webflow)
As a group project, each group has two students, one student designs the travel app and the other student designs the travel website, or both students design the app project and the website project through the trip together.
