The Importance of a Great Website
By: Eric Rosenberg In a time where technology is everywhere and everything is so streamlined it is more important than ever to have a great website for your business. Think about it, what is the first thing that you see when you go to look up a company? 90% of the time, I end up at the company’s website. From here, we as consumers subconsciously pass judgment about the company based on the design, professionalism, and progressiveness. If it is a poor, do it their self type job I usually assume they are not very serious about their business as they did not invest enough time or money into it. There are many other snap judgments people are prone to make about a business just from looking at their website. This is why the host must make sure that the judgments made by the consumers are in their favor. Therefore, the importance of a great website is not only to give people a user friendly source to learn more about your business, but it is also a place to show off your brand and captivate your target audience. Apple is generally seen as being innovative, so let us look at their website. Their website (apple.com) is extremely simple, yet modern and elegant with good contrast. Apple is known for having elegant, easy to use products and their website is simple and appealing. A Coincidence? Maybe, but it is doubtful that a trillion dollar company would choose a simple website for cost reasons. When it comes to picking a company to design your website, it can be tricky. You want a team, yes a team, that will take the time to learn about your business and the brand you trying to build. Yes, you can save money by using crowd creations and freelance designers, but at that point you are having designers lay the foundation for your business that millions will see. Perhaps this is a job best left for creative people on a team consisting of design, marketing, and business savvy professionals. You should pick professionals who will actively discuss your goals, and collaborate while creating the website for your business. In my next post, I will continue from here, discussing ways to drive traffic to your amazing website! If you have any questions or an idea for a future article email me at eric@eradesignstudio.com.
Customer First By: Erin Cicotte A few months ago some of Era’s executives attended a large, international marketing conference where we were lucky enough to listen to author and marketer, Linda Popky speak on her newly released book, “Marketing Above the Noise.” We mingled at the end, and I posed the question, “what advice do you have for someone still finding their niche in marketing?” Popky turned the question around and asked, “well what can you do for me?” In today’s market, we struggle to be heard because there is SO MUCH NOISE. Noise is a result of the constant struggle to compete and keep up with social and other digital trends. Just as Popky refocused my question back to ‘what I can do for her,’ she refocuses marketing back to the customer. We often lose sight of the single most important aspect of business, and that is the customer. To create value for customers we all have to be marketers, this includes the whole team, even our bosses. At Era we value our relatively flat structure enabling us to bring superior value to our client’s brand which in turn creates value for their customers. Some reject the need of marketing but without it, value gets lost in the noise.
For the Love of Brands
By: Erin Cicotte Brands shape our culture, the marketplace and a company's ability to compete in their respective marketplace. Becoming iconic is something that many companies strive to achieve, and for some this happens much quicker than others. Lucky for our marketplace, our society is very brand-centric and brand-loyal. Not only are brand-loving consumers often satisfied with a brand’s quality but also have established a deeper emotional connection with that brand. This emotional connection is derived from the experience and lifestyle that comes with the brand. Many consumers might choose Starbucks over a gas-station coffee because of the taste, white cup, and simple recognizable logo in which all create this overall experience. Simplistic, integrated and consistent design materials enhance a consumer’s experience and define what a brand is all about taking your company one step closer to being iconic. At Era we value the opportunity to “Let EVERYONE see your business the way YOU do."
