GAIN: AIGA DESIGN AND BUSINESS CONFERENCE

The 2014 “Gain: AIGA Design and Business Conference” in New York City will focus on the changing face, place and character of business, and together we’ll explore how designers are playing a pivotal role in evolving business models. Culture, economics and commerce will converge to tackle the tough question businesses and designers face: What is the new shape of business?

MARIA GIUDICE: INNOVATION STARTS AT THE TOP

A DEO, or design executive officer, is a combination of strategic business executive and creative problem-solver. They see themselves as catalysts for transformation and agents of cultural change. The DEO looks at business problems as design problems, solvable through the right mix of imagination and metrics. Designers have moved from being seen as makers of artifacts to being perceived as central players in innovative organizations. In this video from the 2012 "Gain: AIGA Design for Social Value Conference," Maria Giudice urges creatives to reshape the future and help make an impact at a global scale.
