Katie-KrullMy month-long internship at McCann-Erickson Cadillac Branch was one of the best, life-changing experiences I’ve ever had. It was amazing to be immersed in the Chinese culture, learn what it is like to design in a professional setting, and get feedback from extremely talented designers. I think about going back to look for design work when I graduate all the time and it is an experience I would recommend to everyone if they ever get the chance.”

Sara-2In the summer of 2014, I had the great honor to be one of McCann Worldgroup’s interns in Shanghai, China. This experience was so rewarding and challenging. Thanks to the internship and the opportunity to work directly with the art director of the Cadillac team. I learned about graphic design in a real world company which helped me ensure that graphic design was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. In addition, I learned how to blend marketing strategies and creative work to collaboratively promote Cadillac vehicles to Chinese market.

Not only the language barrier, but different design expectations due to cultural differences, were a big challenge for me. This helped me to improve my communication skills and to meet expectations that I have never had to meet before. I could not have been more glad that I decided to be an intern in McCann Worldgroup because I learned what are the actual expectations in an award winning advertising agency.”

ToriDuring the summer of 2014, I traveled to Shanghai, China with a group of ten students (some study abroad and some internship students) to complete an internship at TBWA, an international advertising agency. This was my first advertising internship and also my first time leaving the country so I was nervous in the weeks prior to leaving. I was assured beforehand that while I spoke no Chinese, the language barrier was minimal in Shanghai, where most people could speak at least some English. The internship and trip turned out to be one of the best experiences of my life. I learned so much about the workings of an advertising company and all of the different roles that one could play in the company and I was able to work on both inhouse and actual client projects. I gained very valuable real world work experience. The overall atmosphere of the office was relaxed as well and everyone was friendly so it never took away from the excitement of my overall trip, it hardly felt like a job there was always something fun going on! The opportunity to combine a studyabroad like experience and a work experience is very unique. It was so beneficial to me and I will always remember and be thankful that I took this opportunity. I strongly recommend it to anyone who is even a little bit on the fence about doing something like this, you won’t regret it!”

Dale-smallMy 5-week internship at TBWA was a very eye opening experience. I got to see how a real agency operates and acclimate to that environment. Not only did I get to experience a different business environment, but I got to experience a different culture.”
