Attention to all lab monitors_Fall 2012

Posted by: Ping

Reading and understanding the Lab Monitor Responsibility and Expectation document is required for all lab monitors. Especially, this document is very important for those lab monitors who are new to the team. The detailed item-by-item helps you know what is your duty when you take working shifts and when your shift is done. If any of you get questions about the details of the document, please contact me. In order to perform your services to students in a professional manner, I would like to continuously provide the training courses to every new print monitor how to use the printers today or early next week.

When rechecking the lab hour schedule, I found that more than one lab monitor working in a same time slot. One lab monitor plus one print monitor working together in each time slot will be fine, but doubling lab monitors in a same time-slot is wasted.

I would like to emphasize some requirement of the document here again because I noticed some absence appearing from the first day to present. The lab monitor is required to ask anyone to leave in the room when his/her shift is done and no other lab monitor is next to him/her or the next shift taker does not appear on time. Standing on student’s point of view, nobody wants to be kicked out in the room when they are working on their project. So be nice and professional to students.

If only one print monitor work in a certain time slot, the working scope of the print monitor would be extended to be both lab monitor and print monitor role.

To avoid gaps from the first working shift to the last shift because the lab, OP 1224, cannot be left unattended with students in the room.
The lab rooms can’t be left unattended at any time!!!

Normally, the DPS officer will show up to lock the doors on time. But if the officer doesn’t show up, the final working shift taker (the lab monitor) needs to call DPS at 660-785-4176, and await the officer to come and lock the doors, then you could leave.

Last, the lab will be closed on September 3rd due to the Labor Day;
you may make up your hours at later time.
