Materials List
Below is a listing of materials you will need for our class. You will need other materials as the class progresses. Each of you will also use materials at a rate personal to you, so some of you will need to replenish supplies during the semester. We will talk about the additional materials during the semester and I will make every effort to allow you to combine materials orders/purchases with your classmates in order to minimize costs.
Supplies: Underlined items are necessary for our 2nd class meeting.
- Graphite Pencils – Ebony, B, 2B, 4B and 6B (10 or more for each)
- Soft to medium compressed charcoal drawing sticks
- Some old drawings that you are willing to see destroyed/transformed into great art
- Some favorite poems
- 18” x 24” Newsprint Pad – you may need more
- Sketchbook
- High Quality Drawing Paper (14-28 sheets)
- Black ink and/or black thinned /fluid acrylic
- A few cups or bowls
- A set of colored drawing media – including primary and secondary hues
- A clean cotton rag
- Glue sticks
- A variety of brushes for water media
- Kneadable Erasers
- Mat Blades
- Mat Board as needed
- Foamcore as needed (to back mats)
- Frames and Framing supplies for at least one large drawing – wait for the assignment to buy this
- X-Acto Knife
- Utility Knife or Box Cutter
- Masking Tape
- Vine Charcoal (optional)
- Blending Stump (optional)
- Workable Fixative (optional)
- 8GB Flash Drive (optional)
- Odd, unusual, unanticipated, and experimental drawing materials as needed
